The Iraqi Baker Commission
Please remember that James Baker represented/defended the Saudi government against the lawsuit filed by the survivors and family members of the 9/11 attack. So do not expect anything of substance or in the best interest of America coming out of the Iraqi Baker Commission as chartered by President Bush.

There’s an old admonishment in jet flight training - If you don’t fly your brain in front of the plane then the plane will fly your brain where it doesn’t want to go.
Bush now knows that he’s hosed in Iraq. And as he has all his life, he’s called on Daddy to save his bacon. Daddy’s loyal friend has now been called in, not to brainstorm a genuine victory, but to provide an exit plan that allows Junior to claim victory and otherwise exonerate him from punishment for the most incomprehensibly ignorant and arrogant military campaign in U.S. history.
Baker is a great American and statesman. But he is also an intimate friend of Bush, Sr. and an institutionalist. He will regard this service to provide Junior another escape as the preservation of face by the American government. Notice that covering Junior’s SNAFU has somehow morphed into a private patriotic act by this great American statesman.
Instead of staying on course to al Queda, Junior used 9/11 as a pretext to get his old foe, Saddam Hussein. In so doing, he collapsed Mesopotamia around America’s moral authority for the next 2 generations. We have already sustained 45 years of light casulaties in the cold war. Are we to now sustain heavy casualties for 45 more years in a hot (shooting) war?! Junior was was never capable of flying ahead of the plane of war and he has taken our country where the most powerful force for freedom in the world must never go - defeat.
